Hamas fighter wins Golden Globe for Best Documentary Short Film

The award for best documentary went to none other than Hamas filmmaker, Yusuf Salem. The winning documentary, titled “Hostage Smiles” offered viewers an intimate look at filming the release of hostages as an heroic act.

The documentary follows Hamas as they plan and execute the murders and kidnapping of innocent civilians on October 7, only to release them later on with forced smiles plastered on their faces, waving goodbye to Hamas fighters.

Yusuf, masked and donning his infamous headband, expressed his gratitude for the award, “We are so honoured to be recognised for our work in the field of hostage cinema. It is truly a testament to the dedication of our team and the passion we have for our craft”.
