Maggie Barry’s Customised iPhone Causes Turbulence on Air New Zealand flight

Former National MP Maggie Barry found herself at the centre of a heated dispute with Air New Zealand crew on a flight from Queenstown to Auckland. The incident unfolded when Barry refused to stow away her unusually large customised iPhone.

When questioned about its size, Barry responded, “I wanted to see all my apps on one screen, and didn’t like flicking back and forth in fear my index finger might fall off. So I took it to a panel beater and got it enlarged”.

After much drama involving a huddle in the pilot cabin, a female police officer, and a few words exchanged with fellow passengers, Maggie was allowed to board the flight, but ordered to serve water to passengers using her large customised iPhone as a tray.
